Samurai Game
In a world so dark and seductive, expect nothing less than a triple-cross in this explosive Ghostwalker novel by #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan…
In an underground club, a high-ranking public official spends his secret nights indulging in fantasies as exciting as they are depraved. For a seductive employee of the Dungeon, it’s her job to fulfill them. But she’s playing a far more dangerous game—one of blackmail, politics, and murder that reaches into the shadow world of the Ghostwalkers, and the creation of a spectacular, one-of-a-kind new weapon of defense.
But when a dictator makes his own catastrophic moves, the Ghostwalkers have no choice but to bring in two major players—a man and woman both driven by passion and revenge. Both expendable. Both with nothing left to lose.

Today I am going to attempt a review on Christine Feehan's Samurai Game. The 10th novel in her Ghostwalker series. The thing I really like about Christine is she can take characters that I find off the chart (as in eh, they don't do much for me) and make them into vital intriguing characters. She can take a story that absolutely doesn't interest me, in theory, and have me so compelled that I can not put the book down. I learned early on NOT to question her. When she is writing from her heart and not to appease her fans.. she is the best there is. There are times when she loses herself because she seems to want to please everyone.. I think she is at her very best when she just writes. Lets the chips fall where they may.. In Samurai Game she does just that.
Sam Johnson, dark and deadly. Has managed to be a quiet character throughout the Ghostwalker Series. We know he's there, he is always in our peripheral vision but he never quite leaps out and takes control. He is not a Wyatt or a Javier or Norton.. One who teases us even when it's not his book. And he's not one of the invisible ones like Jonah and Kyle.. we haven't seen much of them lately but we know they are there. We have seen Sam, we just haven't really met him. Maybe that is what makes him so devilishly intriguing.. when it's time for him to take center stage our Sam just walks in and gets the job done. I fell head over heels in lust with this man.. Envy may be a deadly sin but let me tell you I would be more than happy to die over it.. He is just that scrumptious.. Sam found his way to General Ranier as a child, tried to hotwire his car and the Ranier family took him in. Encouraged his brains and supported him when he followed his "father" into the military. The problem is no one is quite sure of "talents" what are his skills? Since he is a quiet man, not inclined to bragging and extremely private.. his skills are hidden from the brass.. leaving some (not his team) but some to think he is lacking talents and therefore expendable... Shows what they know..
Thorn, we always knew what Whitney thought of Thorn.. She dared defy him as a child. AND she had no definable use.. As far as Whitney was concerned all she was good for was to be used for experiments.. a lab rat.. useless, something expendable. At 8yrs old he decided that she had fulfilled her purpose and he tossed her into the slums in Japan. Left her either for dead or to be used in the child sex rings.. slavery. Fortunately for Thorn, she was found by a strong loving man who knew what true strength was. He raised her, taught her to control her emotions, taught her what loyalty was and most of all loved her. Thorn became Azami Yoshiie, one of the founders of an innovative satellite company. Wooed by countries.. a brilliant mind. And oh so much more. She is determined to take Whitney down. To destroy not the head but all of the arms.. to make it almost impossible for him to gather information. To destroy his network and finally to destroy him.
Faced with the knowledge that Lily was raising a child in a Ghostwalker compound and that they wanted to purchase her satellite.. Thorn and her brothers head to the compound determined to search and destroy if necessary, she was ready to do all that was needed to make sure the child was safe.. Due to some of her other activities she is also aware that to Whitney, Sam is expendable.. she wants to know why.
Almost upon their first introduction Sam knows something is off, he isn't sure until some third rate wanna be army decides to attack. Not being sure who exactly the targets are, the group splinters and Sam and Azami are left to fend for themselves and within this maelstrom they find the other part of themselves. In battle they are reborn a team .. with some wicked awesome powers.. A team not to be underestimated and most likely not to be thrown away.
I enjoyed how Christine found a way to in your face Whitney.. to showcase his arrogance by making two of his expendables so very powerful. Then in a flip side to make his valued flunkies, so arrogantly stupid.. Without going into insane detail and sharing oh so many spoilers, I will say.. I spent much of this book wondering when the other shoe was going to fall. Asking myself who exactly was the traitor. And let me tell you I questioned some pretty interesting people. This was well done of Christine.. keeping me on the edge of my seat that way.
Together Thorn and Sam become an integral part of the Ghostwalker community and I enjoyed spending time with Team One again. The guys were the wonderful selves. The only thing I didn't like was while discussing battle plans they used military terms, that's ok, that was realistic.. it's just the way those termed were explained to the reader. It seemed to take me out of the story. This could have flowed better but if that is the only flaw in an otherwise wonderfully crafted book, who am I to complain?
I will say this if you enjoy the Ghostwalkers, you will adore this book.. *grins* If you have never read a GW book you will enjoy this book.. Male or Female I think this story will gain and keep your interest

The Ghostwalker series is one of those rare series that contains stories that bring the reader back for more. This is another great story that doesn’t disappoint. The sex scenes are great, but the storyline is just as compelling. I’ve reread each book in the series a few times, and every time, I get just as lost in the ghostwalker world. I enjoyed this book but I didn't feel the depth of character that is in most of her books. I also felt there were too many twists and turns to the plot. Azami is definitely the main character here but I other than providing a background of her life when she was a child, I didn't feel close to her as an adult.

A lot of questions went unanswered for me; what happened to the diamond, Sam picked up - did it ever get to Whitney? Did Dr. Whitney pair Azami and Sam? What about the General's assistant, since she was exposed did anyone tell him? Who were the first attackers really after?
I liked the book and since there were so many questions, was it a set up for the next version?
